British hot drinks company Cafédirect has introduced new coffee products from Tanzania to Singapore.
Using Arabica beans grown 1,000 metres to 2,000 metres above sea level on the slopes of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, Cafédirect Kilimanjaro Roast & Ground and Cafédirect Kilimanjaro Whole Beans have a clean intense, balanced flavour.
These ‘terroir’ coffee beans are roasted lightly so that delicate notes of citrus fruits and berries are detectable as one sips the coffee.
Terroir refers to a specific area in a country, where a combination of factors, including soil, climate, and environment, gives a coffee its distinctive character.
Sitting on the red fertile volcanic soil of Mount Kilimanjaro, the coffee plants are sheltered under the shade of forest canopy and watered by pure mountain streams from melting snows at the summit. Such a climate allows the beans to mature slowly, enhancing the coffee’s fruity flavour for a nice breakfast or mid-morning break.
The Cafédirect Kilimanjaro range is priced in Singapore at S$10.95 for the Roast & Ground coffee and S$11.85 for the Whole Bean variant. They are available at Cold Storage, FairPrice Finest, Market Place and ThreeSixty.
